Fix Your Hips
Specialist hip rehabilitation, virtual appointments and clinical mentoring
Fix Your Hips began in 2020 during lockdown, when face-to-face physiotherapy suddenly stopped. Like many clinicians, I saw how quickly people with persistent hip pain became stuck — unable to access the right support, often trying to self-manage without a clear diagnosis or structured rehabilitation plan.
I created a Facebook group called Fix Your Hips to offer consistent guidance, education and exercises. The community grew rapidly to over 5,000 members, and it became clear that there was a significant gap: many people with long-standing hip pain had never received effective, specialist-led rehabilitation.
Since then, Fix Your Hips has evolved into a dedicated space for:
-
a structured online programme for gluteal tendinopathy
-
virtual physiotherapy appointments for people who need specialist support from anywhere
-
mentoring for healthcare professionals managing complex hip presentations
About me
My name is Victoria Smith, and I am the founder and clinical lead of Solent Specialist Physiotherapy — a specialist practice made up of a team of clinicians, each working within their own area of expertise.
Alongside my private practice work, I also work in the NHS as a Band 8a specialist physiotherapist, with a clinical focus on hips and knees.
I have been a physiotherapist for 26 years, and my work centres on complex and persistent hip presentations — particularly in people who have experienced symptoms for months or years, or who have already seen multiple healthcare professionals without meaningful change.
I have advanced diagnostic skills and am trained to request and interpret investigations including X-ray, MRI and ultrasound imaging, where appropriate. I am also trained in injection therapy, which can be used as part of a wider rehabilitation approach in carefully selected cases.
I work closely with a leading hip surgeon and lead orthopaedic rehabilitation protocols following hip surgery, including femoroacetabular impingement surgery (FAIS) and gluteal cuff reconstruction. This experience shapes how I assess, explain and rehabilitate hip pain: clearly, methodically, and with progression that is evidence-based and clinically realistic.
Many people travel significant distances to see me because they want a specialist opinion, a clear diagnosis, and a structured rehabilitation plan — particularly when they have been stuck for a long time.
How Fix Your Hips can help your hip pain
Online Gluteal Tendinopathy Programme
Gluteal tendinopathy is one of the most common causes of persistent pain on the outside of the hip. It is also one of the most misunderstood, and it is frequently managed in ways that unintentionally prolong symptoms.
The Fix Your Hips online programme is designed for people who want a structured plan that helps them understand their pain, reduce flare-ups, and rebuild strength gradually and safely.
The programme is evidence-based and covers the full picture of effective gluteal tendinopathy management — not just exercises. It is video-led, making it clear and easy to follow, and includes guidance on how everyday activities may be aggravating your symptoms (and how to modify these safely and realistically), alongside a graded, structured strengthening plan designed to restore capacity and reduce flare-ups over time.
This is not a generic exercise plan. It is a clinically informed programme built around progressive rehabilitation, clear explanation, and practical guidance for real life.

Virtual Physiotherapy Appointments
Many people first came to Fix Your Hips because they were unable to travel for specialist care — and even now, I regularly work with patients who live too far away to attend in person.
Virtual appointments allow you to access specialist assessment and rehabilitation planning wherever you are. These sessions are particularly suitable for persistent gluteal tendinopathy, complex hip presentations, FAIS and hip osteoarthritis.
If you are unsure of your diagnosis, or you feel you need an individualised plan rather than general advice, a virtual appointment is often the most appropriate first step.

Mentoring for Healthcare Professionals
Fix Your Hips also offers mentoring sessions for healthcare professionals who want to improve confidence and clarity when managing hip pain.
Over the years, I have been contacted by many clinicians who feel confident with most MSK conditions, but find hips more complex — particularly when symptoms do not follow a typical pattern, or when patients are not progressing despite appropriate rehabilitation.
Mentoring sessions are case-based, practical and clinically focused, with the aim of helping you develop stronger clinical reasoning, clearer progression strategies, and improved outcomes.
