GLUTEAL TENDINOPATHY PROGRAMME

Evidence-based, video-led rehabilitation for persistent outer hip pain.

Join the programme

Gluteal tendinopathy is one of the most common causes of pain on the outside of the hip. It is also one of the most frequently misunderstood — and many people are given advice that unintentionally makes symptoms worse.

This programme was created to provide something many people never receive:

A clear diagnosis-led approach, a structured plan, and guidance that covers every aspect of effective gluteal tendinopathy management.

It is designed for people who want to understand their symptoms properly, stop the flare-up cycle, and rebuild strength gradually and safely.

Who this programme is for

This programme is appropriate if you experience pain such as:

  • pain on the outside of the hip

  • pain when lying on your side

  • pain with walking, stairs or hills

  • pain getting out of the car

  • pain after exercise

  • recurring flare-ups when you increase activity

Many people joining the programme have already tried physiotherapy, rest, stretching, injections, or online exercises — without lasting improvement.

Why this programme is different

Gluteal tendinopathy is rarely resolved by “just doing some exercises”.

In practice, long-term improvement depends on several key areas working together, including:

  • understanding aggravating daily activities

  • changing unhelpful movement patterns

  • progressive strengthening with the correct dosage

  • graded return to walking, running or sport

  • managing flare-ups calmly and confidently

This programme was designed to bring those elements together in one structured system

What the programme includes

The Fix Your Hips Gluteal Tendinopathy Programme is:

Video-based and easy to follow

Every part of the programme is explained clearly through video, so you are not left trying to interpret written instructions or second-guess what you should be doing.

Evidence-based and clinically structured

The programme is based on the principles used in specialist clinical practice, and reflects what the research consistently supports: progressive loading, appropriate education, and gradual return to function.

Designed to cover the full picture

You are guided through both the rehabilitation exercises and the real-life factors that often keep symptoms going.

What you will learn inside the programme

The programme includes clear video teaching on topics such as:

Everyday aggravating factors

Many people unknowingly flare their symptoms through normal daily habits — including how they sit, stand, walk, sleep, train, or manage stairs.

You will learn how to identify these triggers and how to adjust them without becoming fearful of movement.

Structured, graded strengthening

The programme includes a progressive strengthening plan that is staged and structured.

This allows you to build capacity gradually, rather than falling into the common cycle of:

doing too much → flaring → resting → losing strength → repeating the cycle

Returning to walking, running, and normal activity

For many people, the goal is not just “less pain” — it is returning to a normal life, including longer walks, exercise, sport, and confidence in day-to-day movement.

The programme is designed to support that process in a clear, realistic way.

About the programme creator

My name is Victoria Smith. I am the founder and clinical lead of Solent Specialist Physiotherapy, and I also work in the NHS as a Band 8a hip and knee specialist physiotherapist.

I have been qualified for 26 years, and hips have been my clinical focus for much of my career.

I also work closely with a leading hip surgeon and lead orthopaedic rehabilitation protocols following hip surgery, including gluteal cuff reconstruction.

This programme reflects the same principles I use clinically with patients — including those who have often seen multiple healthcare professionals without success.

Final note

Gluteal tendinopathy can be persistent, frustrating and limiting — particularly when you have tried several approaches without progress.

With the right plan, the right progression, and the right understanding of what is driving symptoms, meaningful improvement is absolutely possible.
