Book with Alex
Alex Stephenson is a Specialist Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapist with over 20 years of physiotherapy experience. She qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2001 and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Physiotherapy in Women’s Health at Bradford University in 2018. Alex is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC PH59942) and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP).
Alex has specialised in pelvic health physiotherapy since 2017 and is dedicated to supporting women with pelvic floor dysfunction. She has extensive experience in assessing and treating a wide range of pelvic health conditions, including urinary incontinence (stress and urge), pelvic organ prolapse, and Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injury (OASI). She is passionate about addressing health concerns that are often overlooked or difficult to talk about and helping women improve their quality of life through specialist, compassionate care.
Her clinical approach is rooted in evidence-based practice and tailored to each individual. Alex places strong emphasis on listening carefully to each woman’s story and goals, then developing a personalised rehabilitation plan. She uses a combination of manual therapy, electrotherapy where appropriate, targeted exercise programmes, and education to promote healing, restore function, and support long-term confidence in movement.
Alex is currently completing her MSc in Professional Practice in Health Sciences at the University of Southampton, with her dissertation focusing on endometriosis. She also works nationally as the Area Representative Coordinator for the Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) professional network.
What do I enjoy treating?
"I have a particular interest in supporting women following childbirth, including those recovering from OASI, helping them rebuild pelvic floor strength and feel safe returning to movement. I also enjoy working with women who want to become more active again — whether that’s returning to exercise, sport, or simply feeling confident in everyday activities.
Helping women move forward after what can be a physically and emotionally challenging time is something I find incredibly rewarding. I place real importance on taking time to listen to each individual, understanding their goals, concerns, and what matters most to them. Creating a safe, supportive environment where women feel comfortable talking openly is central to how I work."

A bit about me
"Outside the clinic, I love travelling and my favourite place to holiday is the Greek islands. I am also an avid skier and love my annual holiday in the snowy mountains. I understand how important movement, confidence, and quality of life are, and I bring that understanding into my clinical work every day."
