in Gosport
Specialist injection therapy for selected knee conditions and lateral hip pain.
Make an injection enquiry →Our Gosport injection clinic provides specialist assessment and injection therapy for a range of knee conditions and selected lateral hip presentations.
The service is led by Victoria Smith, Hip & Knee Specialist Physiotherapist, who works at Band 8a specialist level within the NHS and has advanced experience in diagnosis, imaging, rehabilitation and injection therapy.
This means your injection is not considered in isolation. Your symptoms, clinical findings, previous treatment, imaging and goals are all taken into account when deciding which treatment option may be most appropriate.
Conditions We Treat With Injection Therapy
Knee Osteoarthritis
Injection therapy may be considered for people with knee osteoarthritis where pain, stiffness or joint irritability is affecting walking, exercise, work or everyday activity.
Depending on your presentation, options may include corticosteroid, hyaluronic acid or Cingal.
Meniscal-Related Knee Pain
Meniscal pain can occur alongside osteoarthritis or as part of a more localised knee problem.
Where symptoms remain troublesome, specialist assessment can help determine whether rehabilitation, imaging or injection therapy may be useful.
Lateral Hip Pain & Gluteal Tendinopathy
Selected lateral hip presentations may be suitable for corticosteroid injection where clinically appropriate.
Victoria has particular expertise in gluteal tendon conditions and combines injection therapy, where useful, with specialist rehabilitation.
A Note About Hip Joint Injections
Our Gosport clinic injects selected lateral hip conditions, but we do not perform injections directly into the hip joint.
If your symptoms appear to arise from the hip joint itself, Victoria can assess the problem, review or arrange imaging where appropriate, and advise on the most suitable treatment or onward referral.

Assessment Before Injection
You do not need to arrive knowing which injection you want.
Before treatment, Victoria will consider your symptoms, medical history, previous treatment and any imaging you may already have. Where further imaging would help clarify the diagnosis or influence treatment, this can be arranged.
The aim is to select the injection option that best fits the condition being treated and your individual circumstances.
What Happens After an Injection?
After your injection, you will be given individual guidance about activity and returning to normal movement.
Where appropriate, injection therapy can be combined with specialist rehabilitation to help you make the most of any improvement in pain or movement and progress towards your longer-term goals.
Victoria also provides specialist Hip & Knee rehabilitation through the Gosport clinic at Linden Grove.
