A specialist-led service

Joint Inject is based in Gosport and provides access to specialist joint injection therapy for those in the surrounding areas, serving Gosport, Fareham, Portsmouth and Southampton.

This is not a clinic built to simply deliver injections, but around making sure an injection is the right decision.

The clinic is led by experienced physiotherapists working at an advanced level across both NHS and private practice. That experience shapes how the service operates, with a focus on assessment, clear clinical reasoning, and appropriate treatment.

Some people attend with a diagnosis and have already been advised to consider an injection. Others are dealing with symptoms that have not settled and are looking for a clearer understanding of what may help. In both situations, the aim is the same: to assess properly and explain clearly, ensuring treatment decisions are well founded.

If an injection is not the right option, this is explained, and alternative pathways can be discussed where needed.

Joint Inject is designed for those who want more than a quick procedure — a considered, specialist-led service where treatment is recommended for the right reasons.

Injection therapy

Injection therapy can play an important role in managing certain types of joint and tendon pain.

It may reduce pain, settle an irritated structure, and improve tolerance to movement. For some, this allows progress where symptoms have been limiting day-to-day activity or rehabilitation.

However, injections are not appropriate in every case, and their value lies in careful selection.

By the time you attend for treatment, this has already been considered through your initial consultation. The purpose of the appointment is not simply to deliver an injection, but to ensure that it remains the right step based on your presentation.

In some situations, more than one treatment option may be considered. The most appropriate approach is selected based on your symptoms, clinical findings, and what is most likely to provide meaningful benefit.

Injection therapy is therefore used as part of a considered approach, rather than as a routine or default treatment.

How the service works

The process begins with an initial phone or video consultation, allowing time to explore your symptoms in detail and to decide whether injection therapy is appropriate before arranging an appointment.

There is no charge for this initial consultation.

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will be sent a medical questionnaire to complete in advance. This ensures that treatment is safe and appropriate. You will also receive information outlining the procedure, possible side effects, and aftercare.

When you come into clinic, a full clinical assessment is carried out before treatment. This confirms the working diagnosis and ensures that the planned injection remains appropriate based on your presentation on the day.

Time is taken to look beyond the injection itself, including discussion of other factors that may influence your symptoms and outcome. Where appropriate, this may include physiotherapy-based advice and exercises as part of your overall management.

The injection is then carried out during the same appointment, in a clinical environment and using appropriate sterile technique.

Following the injection, you will be asked to remain in the clinic for a short period before leaving. Clear aftercare advice is provided, along with guidance on what to expect in the hours and days following treatment.

The experience behind the clinic

Joint Inject is led by a Band 8 NHS specialist with 26 years of experience in musculoskeletal care, alongside ongoing work in private practice.

This includes working within NHS services and alongside orthopaedic consultants, managing a wide range of joint, bursal and tendon-related conditions, including more persistent and complex presentations.

That experience shapes the way decisions are made within the clinic.

This is not a service built around delivering injections as a default. It is built around making sure the right decisions are made.

Why people choose Joint Inject

Choosing to have an injection is not simply about access to treatment. It is about feeling confident that it is the right step.

Joint Inject is built around clear clinical judgement, with time taken to assess properly and explain decisions clearly.

For many, that reassurance matters as much as the treatment itself.
